EDGAR Next

Are You Ready for EDGAR Next?

The SEC is introducing a new system—EDGAR Next—to modernize how companies manage EDGAR accounts and submit filings. This transformation will streamline the submission process through API-driven functionality, enhanced security, and role-based account management.

Whether you file directly or rely on RDG Filings, we’re here to ensure a seamless transition.

🚨 What’s Changing—And Why It Matters

EDGAR Next replaces outdated login and credentialing processes with a more secure, controlled system. Key changes include:

  • Secure logins through Login.gov with multi-factor authentication
  • Role-based access control and organization-wide user management
  • Introduction of Filer Tokens and User Tokens for delegating filing authority
  • A revamped Form ID process—entirely online and faster

Instead of simply sharing credentials, clients will assign roles and permissions—giving you more security and oversight.

📘 EDGAR Next FAQ

🔧 Preparing for Enrollment

Who is our EDGAR point of contact (POC)?
RDG can identify and update your POC if needed. Just reach out.

How do I know if our passphrase is newer than 2019?
There’s no SEC timestamp. If it was reset in the last five years—by your team or RDG—it should be valid.

How do we enroll someone who doesn’t yet have a CIK?
You’ll need to complete the Form ID process on the new EDGAR Filer Management website using Login.gov credentials. Be sure to search the EDGAR database first to confirm no existing CIK exists for that filer.

🔐 Codes

Does RDG need my updated codes?
Yes—RDG requires an active CIK and CCC to file on your behalf.

Can RDG confirm when our CCC or passphrase was last updated?
We can confirm what’s on file. If they haven’t been updated since before September 2019, they should be reset before EDGAR Next enrollment.

Is my EDGAR password the same as my passphrase or PMAC?
No. These are separate credentials. EDGAR Next will phase out both the passphrase and PMAC.

🔑 Login.gov Accounts

Do I need a Login.gov account in addition to our officers?
Yes—if you’re an account administrator, technical administrator, or user, you’ll need your own Login.gov credentials.

Do Section 16 filers need their own Login.gov account?
Each reporting owner’s CIK must have its own EDGAR Next account, but the account itself can be managed by someone else—such as a delegate who has Login.gov access.

Can I maintain multiple Login.gov accounts?
Yes—you can use separate accounts for personal and professional purposes.

📝 EDGAR Next Enrollment

Can RDG assist with EDGAR Next enrollment?
Yes! Here’s what to expect if RDG enrolls you:

  • RDG must temporarily be assigned as an account administrator
  • Your CCC will be temporarily changed and restored after setup
  • You will still need to create your own Login.gov account

How do I obtain Filer and User Tokens?
After enrollment, the Technical Administrator can generate the Filer Token. Individual users can generate their User Tokens from the EDGAR Filer Management Dashboard.

Can I add RDG as an account administrator during enrollment?
Yes—though not required. You must still delegate filing authority to RDG, even if we are listed as an administrator.

What if a board member serves on multiple boards?
Each CIK requires its own EDGAR Next account. Board members will need to manage separate accounts or delegate administration for each entity.
